MAtch Day

Match Day Confirmations and Cancellations

  • Home teams must send their match confirmations 4 clear days before games are played - Midnight on Monday evenings ahead of Saturday.
  • Away teams must respond 3 clear days before - Midnight on Tuesday.
  • Failure to do so will see clubs being charged.
  • In the event of a kit colour clash the Away team will change kit or wear bibs.
  • In the event of a match cancellation, please advise opposition team without delay.
  • The league will not reschedule cancelled games within the unpublished ages (U7-11.)
  • Published age group (U12+) games cancelled for any reason other than pitch conditions or a school event (evidence may be required,) will result in the game being awarded to the non-defaulting team.
  • Games will be awarded if the defaulting team cancels games due to lack of players or a suitable coach not being available.
  • All cancelled games must be reported to the correct age group Fixtures Secretary.

Kick Off Times

  • The League does not prescribe specific kick off times, these are arranged between clubs on a match-to-match basis.
  • The League does request that kick off times are no earlier than 9.00am or later than 12.30pm on Saturday mornings.
  • Should a club request a kick off outside of these times then this is only acceptable if the opposition agree to the requested time.
  • Home teams may propose an earlier or later kick off, but this must be agreed with the visiting team.
  • Teams are within their rights to decline any kick off requests outside of the agreed league times 9.00am – 12.30pm.

Pitch Set Up

  • Home teams must set up a Respect barrier (line) along one side of the pitch.
  • Home teams must set up a technical area either side of the halfway line, one for each team on the opposite side of the pitch to the Respect barrier.
  • Goals must be the correct size and secured safely.
  • Corner posts and flags are required.

Before the Games

Both Teams have the responsibility to set the correct tone.

  • Home teams should welcome Away teams and advise on facilities.
  • Away teams should respect the Home team facilities at all times.
  • Coaches should introduce themselves to the referee and confirm any possible rule changes.  Such as playing quarters instead of halves, in the event of a hot day.

Squad Lists

Only players registered to play in the League via the Whole Game System are permitted to play in League games, Cup games or League Festivals. Players that are not league registered are not insured to play. Therefore:

  • It is a mandatory requirement to show a hard copy to the opposition coach, of your team’s Squad List, downloaded from the Whole Game System prior to the kick off.
  • It is not acceptable to show these on a phone or tablet.
  • Teams should refuse to play if the opposition cannot provide a hard copy of their Squad List.
  • Teams must refuse to allow any players to play that are not shown on the Squad List.
  • Clubs should report to the appropriate age group Fixtures Secretary, any teams that do not show a hard copy of the Squad List.

Any teams found in breach of the above mandatory requirements will be fined by the league and may be removed from the competition completely.

During the Game

  • In accordance with FA rules no one is permitted to stand behind the goals during the game.
  • Only named substitutes, qualified coaches (managers) and qualified assistant coaches are permitted in the technical area.
  • All other spectators must watch the game from the opposite side of the pitch, behind the Respect barrier (line).
  • For the avoidance of doubt, qualified means coaches (managers) and assistant coaches that are named against the team on the Whole Game system only and appear on the squad list.
  • Coaches and assistant coaches must remain in their technical area throughout the duration of the game and only enter the field of play when asked to by the referee.
  • It is not acceptable for coaches to walk the length of the touchline during the game.
  • Spectators are not permitted on the pitch during the game unless instructed to do so by the referee.
  • Any breach of these rules should be reported to the League via the appropriate club committee member.  Please see our "Reporting an Incident" procedure.

After the Game

All teams are required to complete the mandatory information requested using the Matchday App (see website page: Procedures > Matchday App)

Completion is required by both the Home team and the Away team.

All of the following information is mandatory and therefore required (please make sure the

information entered is for the correct game by checking the date and the opposition prior to

completion):

  • All players involved in the game must be entered and confirmed (this includes subs and starters)
  • The result of the game
  • The referee’s first name (Home team only)
  • The referee’s surname (Home team only)
  • The three separate marks for the referee. If scored below 60 a report will need to be submitted to the appropriate League Year Group Secretary and LWO via the Club committee member.  The league committee may request a report regardless of the mark given.
  • A Respect mark for the general behaviour shown on the pitch during the game
  • A Respect mark for the behaviour of the spectators and opposition coaches
  • A mark on the quality of the pitch the game was played on

The Matchday App entry is the record of the match and will be used should an issue arise post-match. This is particularly pertinent in the event of an injury and subsequent insurance claim.

As advised at the AGM charges will be issued to clubs for persistent non or partial completion by individual teams.

Any issues - please reach out to your year group secretary for assistance.
