This weekend I was proud to wear my poppy with pride and support the act of remembrance with a moment of silence before kick-off.
I was very impressed with all the children and how they showed their respect.
The feedback from our league members has been very positive and the league committee are very proud of everyone’s participation.
Bless our Under 7’s players, and those who were experiencing their first Remembrance Weekend. They embraced the tradition and were fantastic.
I believe that we have all been impacted by conflict, either directly or indirectly. Taking a moment to reflect, remember, and honour, those who have sacrificed their lives to protect our freedom – is a tradition that must continue. And the support of football, at all levels of the game, is of the utmost importance.
A tremendous show of respect from all ages across the FDYFL.
Lest we forget.

In Flanders' fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place: and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders' fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe;
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high,
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders' Fields.
